Match Report: Soccer Queens 1 Mathare United Women FC 0
A rainy afternoon is what took center stage as we lost by a solitary goal to an in-form Soccer Queens as they hosted us at their Ruiru Stadium.
The heavy downpour started right at the kick off. The ladies managed to stay on their feet most of the times as the field was very slidy.
Half way through the match we almost took the lead but the watery field came to the rescue of the hosts as Teresia Lundu fine run was halted.
The wet afternoon came to a break as the scores remained goalless.
We started the second period on a high tempo and a goal in the initial minutes was almost going in. Stacy Adhiambo latched to a fine through pass from Diana Wachera, beat her marker at the six yard box, sliced a return ball to Linet who was waiting at the edge of the box but her first shot went narrowly wide over the crossbar. How did that not go in? We couldn't believe it. It was so Close!!!
Stacy Adhiambo got a couple of chances but the keeper was always alert and she kept the ball away from the edge of her goal area.
The hosts got two chances and utilised one. The ball was switched to the flanks and their offensive winger did not hesitate to put the ball past our keeper.
We couldn't find the win after that goal and we lost our 8th consecutive match.
