Match Report: Wadadia 3 Mathare United Women FC 2
| Judith Atieno moves the ball past Wadadia's Defender |
Our fine run was stunned over the weekend when we lost our away match against Wadadia in Mumias. This was after a late comeback from our host which cancelled our first half 2-goal lead.
The match saw us score from the penalty spot after just 10 minutes of play, when Josphine Nanah was brought down in the 18-yard box. Fauziah Kaunjeri won the game of will and sent the goalkeeper the opposite side to score the first goal of the match.
We immediately added the second goal in the 20th minute when Stacy Adhiambo sprinted passed the opponent's defender, shot towards the goal and the ball went in off the left post.
Towards the end of the first half the hosts pulled one goal back after the keeper dropped the ball on the goal mouth and Wadadia's striker to plugged it in.
In the second half it was a different ball game. Most of the referee's decisions didn't go our way. We forced to take off our Keeper Belindah after she sustained a knock on her right thigh. Mercy Adhiambo was introduced to take on her place. Her immediate task was to keep out a 29-yard free kick which proved to be a difficult task.
The game was now level and for either team to find the winning goal. The hosts were the once to have the last laugh when their winger plunged in towards our post and unleashed a thunderbolt shot which wrapped up a disappointing afternoon for the team.
