Match Report: Kayole Starlet 0 Mathare United Women 0
We were held in a goalless draw in our first match of the season. The team played well but did not find that finishing edge that would have put the match out of reach for the host.
"I am so happy for the team that they put in a 100% in all departments. We were defending well and attacking well the only thing we did not do is scoring," said our Coach.
We could have taken an early lead in the first minutes of first half after Josphine Nana crossed in a superb volley which Jackline Musula did not manage to connect with and it moved out for a throw in.
The second half started with two changes, Jackline Musula went out with an injury and Gladys replaced her. Alexandra Chepkorir was subtituted and in her place Ann Aluoch came in.
Our Midfield connected well with the defense line but the attacking line thwarted most of the balls that were fed to them. Three open chances were missed by our Striker Catherine Erumbi who reacted slowly to the crosses that came in the 18-yard box.
There were two contentious moment towards the end of the match. A corner kick from Esther Aluoch ought to have crossed the goal line but the referee thought otherwise. A penalty call was also turned down after Kayole Startlet Defender handled the ball in the penalty area, the referee waved for the play to continue.
