Match Report: Mathare United Women FC 1 Kayole Starlet 1

After the mid-season break, it was time for game time. We took on our bitter rivals Kayole Starlet in the home tie.

We dominated the proceedings from early on in the game. We were so close from opening the scoreline after a sublime cross from Alexsandra was not well met by Gladys. The visitors' keeper was well beaten and the ball just needed a tap in to make it one-nil.

The visitors exchanged the ball among themselves for a few minutes and it paid off with a freekick. Christine Ngoizi converted the freekick with a low shot that found the bottom corner.

The scoreline remained the same until the break. After the break, it was a different ball game altogether. Our team played as if it was the final. We played in the opponents' half for the better part of the match. We pushed the ball forward but we couldn't finish them off. Judith Atieno tried to beat the keeper in one on ones on several occasion but she couldn't find that killer shot.

The breakthrough finally came after Judith Atieno was brought down by the keeper after a superb pass from Ann Aluoch had found her unmarked. Our captain and penalty maestro, Fauziah Kaunjeri was in no doubt she was going to score. The match was drawn level and the push for the winning goal commenced.

We thought we had scored late in the game but it was ruled for offside. What a match!!!!
It finished level and a point each for the teams.
